I have been diagnosed with R.A., fibromyalg...Hello. I have been diagnosed with R.A., fibromyalgia and sjogens since 1986 when I was 30. Now 56+ and have had mouth ulcers continuously for past year. Never had them before that I can remember. Had fever blisters nearly every month prior to menopause:-) bet you wanted to know that! I have had blurry, smokey vision and burning as well as sharp eye pain. I had all teeth pulled and dentures 3 years ago. Had replacement dentures 18 mos ago. Dentist and doctors all say blisters and ulcer/canker sores caused from poor fitting dentures. No amount of explaining that I CAN'T WEAR THE DAMNED DENTURES could get through. So... the rest of the story: I have been eating cheese and greek yogurt for protein for past 18-24 months, some ground beef, trying to avoid seafood and chicken as that seems to make my R.A. worse. I also am bothered by yeast bread, pizza crust, donuts....Yeast in general! Also apples! I took meds for bacterial, parasitic and fungal infections in that order. Had an area of gum removed and stitched to get rid of an ulcer. Still have swelling, red, blisters in mouth along with several ulcers. So, do you think I might have behcet's? Hope to get a return comment. Sorry for the epistle. Guess I needed to vent? LOL as kids put it:-) janetAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6622318257133015878.post-49149198733651970062013-04-06T17:18:49.026-04:002013-04-06T17:18:49.026-04:00Hi, I thought of posting a few tips that may be he...Hi, I thought of posting a few tips that may be helpful in your diet research.

If you are fighting some food intolerances then it is of course prudent to avoid the most obvious offenders. For some people it could be dairy and eggs. Before you do that, however, I would recommend first to bring the macronutrient ratio to a somewhat more optimal low carb point, if you are not already there.

That is, not only follow Paleo principles, but also make sure that the clear majority of calories are from animal fat, not protein and not carbs. It has to be much above 50% preferably closer to 70-80%. I would not really worry too much if that is Paleo or not Paleo, but I think it is worth to give it a try and see if it works for you.

Secondly, make the intake of carbohydrates about 50g a day (or more precisely about 0.7g/kg of ideal body weight). This is in glycemic load, for example, it would be about 250g in total boiled potatoes weight etc.

Thirdly, I would completely avoid all wheat (rye, spelt etc) and all wheat products.

For people who just begun a high fat low carb, and have metabolic syndrome, that carb intake may have to be even slightly lower, about 0.3-0.5g/kg initially (but not zero!).

If you never tried it you may be surprised how well it may works. (I have been doing it since 1999).

Regards
Stan (Heretic)
Stan Bleszynskihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03922719716458272303noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6622318257133015878.post-56923354678088810812013-03-25T07:11:02.414-04:002013-03-25T07:11:02.414-04:00So you basically say that without the nerve gas pi...So you basically say that without the nerve gas pill, people would *not* have gotten ill, when put in the same stress?

Then stress is a trigger, and not the cause. The nerve gas pill is the cause.

(And look at the fact that having been in combat does not make much difference. People who were deployed but not in combat gotten ill at roughly the same rate. Surely people in combat had more stress.)

Tony Machhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14823430729798784689noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6622318257133015878.post-13191666572191282832013-03-24T13:28:02.870-04:002013-03-24T13:28:02.870-04:00If adrenaline makes the nerve gas pill (pyridostig...If adrenaline makes the nerve gas pill (pyridostigmine bromide, PB) more toxic, and the people who took the pill were in combat and surely making excess adrenaline ("stress"), how can you say stress is not a potential explanation for the unexpected effects of PB?

Jim Moss

Chaney, L.A., Mozingo, J.R., Hume, A.S. & J.I. Sure he uses the "right" terms and goes through all the steps like publishing his "studies" (as did Mikovits, by the way), but whatever he "finds", I am certain it is nothing but BS.

And I think it is possible (or even likely) that some (or even most) of ME/CFS suffers have autoimmune problems of some sort or other – but what I seriously doubt that "it" is one disease entity. I think that ME/CFS is made up from different disease, I think that we do *not* all have the same, and if you take two people with ME/CFS at random, it is likely that they do *not* share the same disease.

So, again, anybody claiming to have found the silver bullet, "the" problem that torments *all* or *most* of ME/CFS sufferers is likely wrong and full of BS, in my maybe not so humble opinion.

If you stick with those that promise a silver bullet for ME/CFS, you may be the one that ends up with egg on her/his face.Tony Machnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6622318257133015878.post-44550865599354895032013-02-23T07:47:49.568-05:002013-02-23T07:47:49.568-05:00why is it so outrageous to suggest HERV's? hav...why is it so outrageous to suggest HERV's? havent they been doing that with MS and lupus for years? this paper has gone a step further and implicated changes in plasmacytoid dendritis cells. it is very intriguing. by the way, lipkin's camp is also finding that it is an autoimmune disease...so you may end up with egg on your face with this article.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6622318257133015878.post-60170400075910158252013-02-13T15:01:43.289-05:002013-02-13T15:01:43.289-05:00Hi, I enjoy your blogging and am subscribed to you...Hi, I enjoy your blogging and am subscribed to your posts via google reader.
